Bathgate Thistle produced a sensational second half to come from behind and defeat league leaders Kennoway Star Hearts in this McBookie.com East Premier League clash.
Kennoway took the lead midway through the first half with Kyle Wilson pouncing to shoot through the Bathgate defence after they failed to clear a loose ball. It was a deserved lead and the away side went in at half-time confident they could finish the job after a poor first half from The Jags
It was a different story in the second half as Thistle stormed out of the blocks. Jamie Clark came close from a free kick out on the right of midfield. Moments later David Taylor did superbly well to power a looping header over the Kennoway keeper’s head from a Stuart McLeod corner and put his side back on level terms.
James Penman making only his second appearance for The Jags in goals produced a tremendous one handed save to keep the scores level. It was an all round excellent display from the goalie. Shortly after, John-James Henderson put Bathgate in front when his cross took a slight deflection and squirmed under the goalie to give him his maiden goal for his on-loan side.
Darren Dalrymple produced a moment of individual brilliance to seal the game when he picked up the ball on the halfway line; finding himself on the left of the penalty box he skilfully evaded two defenders before placing a shot in the bottom left hand corner of the net.
It could have been more. Robbie Feeney, should have made it four when he rounded the keeper only to hit the defenders shins when he should have burst the net and there were other chances including a fizzing Stuart McLeod shot from just outside the box which grazed the bar.
A terrific three points from The Jags after last weeks agonising late defeat away to Forfar West End.
